First Extraordinary Session, 93rd General Assembly
EIGHTH DAY, Thursday, September 15, 2005
The House met pursuant to adjournment.
Speaker Jetton in the Chair.
Prayer by Father Donald W. Lammers.
Let us pray.
“Dew and rain, bless the Lord;
Praise and exalt Him above all forever.
Seas and rivers, bless the Lord;
Praise and exalt Him above all forever.”
(Daniel 3:68 & 78)
Lord God, we pray for those who have died in the hurricanes and flood waters and for those who have survived but with their lives turned upside down.
We thank You for the stability and tranquility of our lives. We thank You for the opportunity to participate in state government, and for every good decision and action that is being accomplished in this extraordinary session. Help us, and all at this State Capitol, to advance the common good by the work we hope to finish this day.
As we return home, may Your Holy Spirit show us how we are to be Good Samaritans, continuing to help those displaced by disasters and others who are reduced to poverty.
We pray to You, Almighty God, living and reigning forever. Amen.
The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was recited.
The Journal of the seventh day was approved as printed.
Speaker Pro Tem Bearden assumed the Chair.
