Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HCS HB 1244 -- INTERIOR DESIGNERS

SPONSOR: Behnen (Ruestman)

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Professional Registration and Licensing by a vote of 13 to 0.

This substitute reduces the verification of experience
requirements for registered commercial interior designers from
five to two client references and from five to two industry
references to be submitted to the National Council for Interior
Design Qualification.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and
FY 2009.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that Missouri has the most stringent
laws regarding references in the country. The bill will reduce
this criteria and make Missouri consistent with other states.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Ruestman; and Cyndi
Curnutte and Leslie Armontrout, Missouri Coalition of Interior
Design.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
