HCS HB 1366 -- VOLUNTEER FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATIONS

SPONSOR:  Johnson, 47 (Robinson)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government by a vote of 15 to 0.

This substitute expands the definition of "volunteer fire
protection association" to include municipal fire departments
staffed by volunteers.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and
FY 2009.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill clarifies, for
liability insurance purposes, that a municipal fire department
may be included within the definition of a "volunteer fire
protection association."

Testifying for the bill was Representative Robinson.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
