HB 1393 -- STATE HIGHWAY PATROL SPONSOR: Behnen COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Crime Prevention and Public Safety by a vote of 13 to 0. This bill permits the Superintendent of the State Highway Patrol to establish guidelines under which members of the patrol may be employed in another position. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and FY 2009. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that many highway patrol officers are enticed to leave the patrol to accept higher paying jobs. The bill will allow the superintendent to determine what is proper secondary employment so that patrol officers can earn extra income to help support their families. Testifying for the bill were Representative Behnen; Missouri State Troopers Association; and State Highway Patrol. Kristina Jenkins, Legislative AnalystCopyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
