Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HB 1536 -- LEAD ABATEMENT AND PREVENTION OF LEAD POISONING

SPONSOR:  Schaaf

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Special Committee on
Urban Issues by a vote of 10 to 0.

Currently, the administrative penalties collected for a violation
of the laws regarding lead abatement and lead poisoning
prevention are deposited into the Missouri Lead Abatement Loan
Fund.  This bill requires the penalties to be distributed
annually to the schools of several counties.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and
FY 2009.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say the bill will allow the penalties
that are collected to be distributed appropriately.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Schaaf.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
