HB 1688 -- ECONOMIC ACTIVITY TAX REVENUES SPONSOR: Johnson (47) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Local Government by a vote of 15 to 0. This bill excludes any sales tax imposed by Jackson County for the purpose of sports stadium improvement from the additional 50% economic activity tax revenue allocation for tax increment financing projects. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and FY 2009. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill will protect the revenue from the sports stadium improvement tax, if passed in Jackson County in April, from being reallocated to tax increment financing projects. Testifying for the bill were Representative Johnson (47); Kansas City Chiefs; and Jackson County. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
