Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HB 1707 -- LOCAL REGISTRARS

SPONSOR:  Dusenberg

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government by a vote of 15 to 0.

This bill allows the State Registrar within the Department of
Health and Senior Services to appoint a person employed by a city
health agency as a local registrar.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and
FY 2009.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the City of Independence would
like to be able to offer its residents the ability to obtain
copies of vital records at the city's health department.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Dusenberg; and City
of Independence Health Department.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
