HCS HB 1762 -- DISABLED LICENSE PLATES AND PLACARDS SPONSOR: Jackson (Wilson, 119) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Veterans by a vote of 8 to 0. This substitute exempts a person who presents proof of permanent disability from the United States Veterans Administration from the four-year certification requirement for renewal of disabled license plates or placards. Initial applications must include a physician's statement confirming the individual's disability. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and FY 2009. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill will exempt a person who is renewing a disabled license plate from providing verification of his or her disability if presenting a statement from the Veterans Administration attesting to the disability.
