HCS HB 1762 -- DISABLED LICENSE PLATES AND PLACARDS

SPONSOR: Jackson (Wilson, 119)

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Veterans by a vote of 8 to 0.

This substitute exempts a person who presents proof of permanent

the four-year certification requirement for renewal of disabled
license plates or placards. Initial applications must include a
physician's statement confirming the individual's disability.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and
FY 2009.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill will exempt a person
who is renewing a disabled license plate from providing
verification of his or her disability if presenting a statement
from the Veterans Administration attesting to the disability.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Wilson (119); and Pat
Kerr.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
