Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 1371 -- Missouri Worker's Freedom Act

Sponsor: Meadows

This bill establishes the Missouri Worker's Freedom Act which
prohibits an employer from requiring his or her employees to
attend an employer-sponsored meeting or participate in any
communication in which the primary purpose is to communicate the
employer's opinion about religious or political matters.

Religious organizations, political organizations, and educational
institutions will be exempt from these provisions as well as
legally required communications about religious or political
matters from employers.

Employers are prohibited from any discriminatory or disciplinary
action associated with an employee's written or verbal report of
a violation of the provisions of the bill. An aggrieved employee
may bring, within 90 days of a violation, a civil action against
his or her employer.
