HB 1530 -- Collection of Debts by Attorney General

This bill authorizes the Attorney General to assess collection
costs to any amount owed to the state more than 45 days
delinquent.  The Attorney General is required to give immediate
notice to the indebted party of the amount owed.  The Attorney
General and the director of any department reporting a claim are
authorized to settle the claim, provide a time extension for
collection of the account, or add and assess fees to recover the
cost of a check returned for insufficient funds if the action is
in the best interest of the state.
