HB 1646 -- Drug Testing of State Officials

Sponsor: Chappelle-Nadal

This bill requires all state elected officials, executive branch
managerial staff, and officers and leadership staff of the
General Assembly to submit to drug testing prior to taking office
and once every two years thereafter. The officials or staff must
pay for their own drug tests, which will be administered by
licensed medical personnel or a person possessing a valid permit
issued by the Department of Health and Senior Services. Upon
request, the test results will be made available to the public.
The bill does not create any new tort for use against a person or
firm conducting the drug tests.
