Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 1743 -- Voter Registration

Sponsor:  Hoskins

This bill allows eligible individuals to register to vote on
election day if they:

(1)  Appear in person at the correct polling place;

(2)  Present a valid Missouri driver's license, a birth
certificate, a Native American tribal document, proof of United
States citizenship, or some other form of personal
identification; and

(3) Complete a voter registration form.

Election authorities or election judges will register any new
voters. New applications will be kept in a locked box that must
be located in plain view at all times until delivered to the
proper election authority after the close of voting. The box
must be shown to be empty prior to the start of registration.
After the close of the election, the proper election authority
will add the names of the newly registered voters to the precinct
register.
