Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 1933 -- Standardized Opening Date for Public Schools

Sponsor: Bearden

This bill prohibits public schools from opening earlier than the
Friday before the last Monday in August. The requirement does
not apply to schools in session for 12 months a year or to
districts which approve, by a majority of the voters, a petition
for an earlier opening date. The bill specifies the procedures
