Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 2043 -- Alternative Dispute Resolutions

Sponsor: Pratt

This bill allows a court to order the parties to an action
brought under Chapters 210, 211, or 452, RSMo, to participate in
alternative dispute resolution. In cases regarding uncontested
custody or temporary physical custody or a finding of domestic
violence or abuse as determined by a competent court, parties may
avoid the assignment of alternative dispute resolution. Any
alternative dispute resolution ordered by the court will be paid
for by the parties in a proportion to be determined by the court.
Any agreement reached through the alternative dispute resolution
will not be binding on the parties.
