HB 2066 -- Landlord Registration Sponsor: Skaggs This bill requires landlords in the City of Kansas City, beginning January 1, 2007, to register with the governing body and to pay a one-time registration fee per designated legal representative of $10 for each single housing unit and $25 for each multiple housing unit. A person designated as the landlord's legal representative for service of public safety violations must reside in the city where the housing unit is located. Each 29-day period that a landlord fails to register is a separate violation, punishable by a fine between $250 and $1,000. Owners without a required legal representative for service purposes are prohibited from purchasing property sold at tax sales or through a county or municipal land trust. Currently, landlords in the cities of Kansas City and St. Louis are required to register.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
