HB 2156 -- Unlawful Employment Practices

This bill changes the laws regarding unlawful employment
practices.  In its main provisions, the bill:

(1)  Changes the definition of "employer" to not include any
state, political, or civil subdivision and individual officers,
supervisors, or other employees of a corporate employer,
corporations, and associations owned and operated by religious or
sectarian groups or state governmental agencies, public school
districts, and political subdivisions;

(2)  Changes the definition of "person" to not include
individuals;

(3)  Changes the definition of "respondent" to not include any
state, political, or civil subdivision and individual officers,
supervisors, or other employees of a corporate employer,
corporations, and associations owned and operated by religious or
sectarian groups or state governmental agencies, public school
districts, and political subdivisions; and

(4)  Removes discrimination on the basis of race, color,
religion, national origin, sex, ancestry, and age as it relates
to employment, disability, or familial status as it relates to
housing by the state or any political subdivision of the state
from unlawful discriminatory practices and the requirements of
the Human Rights Commission to act on a complaint or to the
minimum awards for punitive damages thereon.
