HCS HB 1075 -- SCHOOL COURSE MATERIALS (Davis) COMMITTEE OF ORIGIN: Children and Families This substitute revises the current requirements for presenting information in public schools relating to contraception and sexually transmitted diseases. School districts and charter schools are prohibited from providing abortion services or allowing a person or entity who provides abortion services, except for licensed hospitals, from offering, sponsoring, or furnishing course materials related to human sexuality and sexually transmitted diseases. Course materials may also include the benefits of a lifelong monogamous marriage between a man and a woman. Currently, curriculum materials must be made available for inspection prior to their use. The substitute clarifies that the materials should be available one week before use and also requires that schools must make known the instructor's name and any affiliation with an entity involved with human sexuality instruction at least one week in advance. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and FY 2009.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
