Summary of the Perfected Version of the Bill

HB 1536 -- LEAD ABATEMENT AND PREVENTION OF LEAD POISONING
(Schaaf)

COMMITTEE OF ORIGIN:  Special Committee on Urban Issues

Currently, the administrative penalties collected for a violation
of the laws regarding lead abatement and lead poisoning
prevention are deposited into the Missouri Lead Abatement Loan
Fund.  This bill requires the penalties to be distributed
annually to the schools of several counties.

The bill also authorizes the Director of the Department of Health
and Senior Services to issue administrative consent orders in the
settlement of any proceedings brought under the bill.  Settlement
proceeds received by the director will be credited to the fund.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and
FY 2009.
