AN ACT

To amend chapter 208, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to medical assistance for children.




Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:


            Section A. Chapter 208, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 208.670, to read as follows:

            208.670. 1. For any child less than eighteen years of age who becomes ineligible for medical assistance administered by the department of social services, the department shall determine whether such child has health insurance coverage or benefits six months after such child becomes ineligible for medical assistance.

            2. Beginning with fiscal year 2007 and for each fiscal year thereafter, the department shall report by October first each year to the governor and general assembly the following information regarding children who become ineligible for medical assistance administered by the department of social services:

            (1) The number of children who became ineligible for medical assistance during the reporting fiscal year;

            (2) The number of children under subdivision (1) of this subsection who were ineligible for medical assistance for at least six months during the reporting fiscal year;

            (3) The number of such children under subdivision (2) of this subsection who had health insurance coverage or benefits six months after becoming ineligible for medical assistance.
