HCS HB 1264 -- ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Special Committee on
Healthcare Facilities by a vote of 7 to 0.

This substitute requires assisted living facilities to
immediately implement and review, within 24 hours, any physician
order and update a resident's care plan when the resident returns
from a hospital or skilled nursing facility.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2008, FY 2009, and
FY 2010.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill will make sure that
discharge orders are implemented immediately and that patient
charts reflect the necessary changes.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Page; AARP Missouri
State Office; Missouri Association of Homes for the Aging; and
Missouri Alzheimer's Coalition.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
