HB 166 -- WRITE-IN CANDIDATES SPONSOR: Hoskins COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Elections by a vote of 9 to 0. This bill requires anyone filing a declaration of intent to be a write-in candidate for election to a municipal office to meet certain deadlines and other requirements for filing as specified in Section 115.349, RSMo. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2008, FY 2009, and FY 2010. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill will require write-in candidates to make their intention for running known so that they can be screened and be under the same scrutiny as the party candidates.
