HB 1001 -- Civil Damages

This bill allows a law enforcement officer or firefighter who
while performing his or her duties suffers an injury, disease, or
death from the illegal or malicious conduct of or the negligent
operation of a motor vehicle by any person other than the
officer's or firefighter's employer or co-worker to seek recovery
and damages from the person or entity whose negligent, illegal,
or malicious conduct resulted in the injury, disease, or death.
