HB 1033 -- Voice Over Internet Protocol Services

Sponsor:  Emery

This bill prohibits political subdivisions and the Missouri
Public Service Commission from regulating interconnected voice
over Internet protocol service providers.  Providers are subject
to all state and federal laws including business regulations,
trade practices, consumer protection, and regulations concerning
wireless facilities.  Political subdivisions may tax providers
for the purpose of establishing 911 services the same as other
telecommunications are taxed by the subdivision, and providers
may recover the tax fees from their customers.
