HB 1054 -- Rail-Highway Grade Crossings

Sponsor: Bruns

This bill requires the Multimodal Division within the Department
of Transportation to conduct a study to establish priorities for
the placement of median barriers at rail-highway grade crossings
by listing the top 10% of all public rail-highway crossings in
the state with both the most rail traffic and the most vehicle
traffic as of January 1, 2008, and issue recommendations for
implementing median barrier installations where appropriate. The
study and recommendations must be completed by January 1, 2009.
No more than 50% of the cost of the median barriers and
installation will be allocated to the railroad. All median
barrier installations must be completed by January 1, 2015.
