HB 1148 -- School Funding Reductions

Beginning January 1, 2008, the Director of the Department of
Corrections and the commissioners of the Office of Administration
and Elementary and Secondary Education will determine the average
daily cost of maintaining a prisoner in state custody and the
number of prisoners who most recently attended a Missouri public
school in either the Kansas City or St. Louis school district.
The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is
authorized to calculate a deduction from the state school aid of
the district for each prisoner to be transferred to the
Department of Corrections.
