HB 1238 -- Juveniles in State Custody Sponsor: Robinson This bill establishes the Juvenile Mental Health Review Committee, composed of five state licensed clinical mental health professionals within the juvenile court system, appointed by the Governor, to review the cases of juveniles who have been taken into state custody. The review committee is required to determine if a child should receive a psychological evaluation. If an evaluation is conducted and the results show that the child suffers a mental health condition that could cause danger to the child, he or she must receive treatment for the condition. Provisions are specified regarding where the treatment is to be provided and the release of the child from state custody after completion of the treatment. All cases referred by the committee must remain open until the child is 18 years of age.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
