Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 156 -- Contraceptives

Sponsor: Talboy

This bill requires a pharmacy upon receiving a valid, lawful
prescription for a contraceptive to dispense the contraceptive,
or a suitable alternative permitted by the health care provider,
without delay and consistent with the normal time frame for
filling any other prescription. If the contraceptive or suitable
alternative is not in stock, the pharmacy must obtain the
contraceptive under the pharmacy's standard procedures for
ordering contraceptives in stock.

The provisions of the bill cannot interfere with a pharmacist's
screening for potential drug therapy problems, contraindications,
or other potential interaction problems.
