HB 274 -- Grave Markers

This bill creates the crime of interference with a grave marker
when a person knowingly destroys, mutilates, defaces, injures, or
removes any marker, headstone, monument, gravestone, or other
structure placed, designed, or intended to mark a grave site.
The crime will be a class C felony.

If a person receives, retains, or disposes of a grave marker,
knowing or believing that it was removed illegally, he or she
will be guilty of the crime of receiving a stolen grave marker.
The crime will be a felony punishable by a fine of not less than
$5,000 and not more than $10,000.  If a person knows or believes
that another person is guilty of the crime of receiving a stolen
grave marker and fails to report the crime, he or she will be
guilty of a class A misdemeanor.
