HB 548 -- Candidate Filing Requirements

Sponsor:  Chappelle-Nadal

This bill requires that an applicant seeking to file for elected
public office pay all penalties he or she owes for any failure to
file campaign finance disclosure reports.  The Secretary of State
must verify that an applicant has filed all required disclosure
reports if he or she has been a candidate in a previous election
prior to approving an applicant's declaration of candidacy.

The bill becomes effective on January 1, 2008.
