Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 831 -- State Board of Pharmacy

This bill changes the laws regarding the State Board of Pharmacy.
In its main provisions, the bill:

(1)  Removes the one-year time limit for an intern pharmacist
license;

(2)  Repeals language authorizing the board to establish rules
restricting the practice of intern pharmacists;

(3)  Authorizes the board to issue cease and desist orders to
persons engaged in the unauthorized practice of pharmacy and
enforce orders by applying to a court of competent jurisdiction;

(4)  Authorizes the board to waive licensure if a state of
emergency is declared where the safety and welfare of the
inhabitants of the state are in jeopardy;

(6)  Creates a veterinary class for pharmacy permits or licenses;
and

(7)  Specifies that the veterinary pharmacy permit will not
interfere with a licensed veterinarian when compounding or
dispensing his or her own prescriptions.
