Summary of the Introduced Bill

HJR 22 -- Compensation of Public Officials

Sponsor: Ervin

Upon voter approval, this proposed constitutional amendment makes
any schedule of compensation for state officials proposed by the
Missouri Citizens' Commission on Compensation for Elected
Officials invalid unless approved by a majority vote of the
General Assembly before February 1 of the year following the
filing of the schedule of compensation. Currently, the
compensation schedule takes effect unless disapproved by a
concurrent resolution adopted by a two-thirds majority vote of
the General Assembly. The amendment also requires separate
consideration and approval by a majority vote for compensation
for state judges and public officials.
