AN ACT

To amend chapter 484, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to allowing attorneys to provide legal services to needy persons without compensation.




Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:


            Section A. Chapter 484, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 484.280, to read as follows:

            484.280. Any provision of law, rule, regulation, or policy that requires a public official or employee to devote his or her full time to their office, or that prohibits a public official or employee from engaging in the practice of law outside of his or her official duties, shall not prohibit an official or employee who is licensed to practice law in this state from providing legal services to needy persons if such services are provided without compensation.
