AN ACT
To amend chapter 610, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to suicide records.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Chapter 610, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 610.230, to read as follows:
610.230. Upon completion of an investigation involving the suicide of an identifiable person, any suicide note and any records and documents relating to such suicide note shall be deemed a closed record; except that, any closed record under this section shall be available upon request by law enforcement agencies or the immediate family of the suicide victim or in accordance with a valid court order authorizing disclosure upon motion and good cause shown. Where a single record or document contains both open and closed records, the agency shall make a redacted version of such record or document available in order to protect the information that would otherwise make the record or document a closed record. Staff time required for such redaction shall constitute an activity for which a fee can be collected under section 610.026.
