House Concurrent Resolution No. 51
94TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Whereas, on New Year's weekend in 1999 a Northwest Airlines flight was delayed on a runway in Detroit, Michigan, for an excessive amount of time; and
Whereas, in December 2006 an American Airlines flight was delayed on a runway in Austin, Texas, for eight to nine hours; and
Whereas, on February 14, 2007, a JetBlue Airways flight was delayed on a runway in New York, New York, for eleven hours; and
Whereas, passengers on all of these grounded flights were not allowed to leave the airplane; and
Whereas, passengers trapped on these grounded flights were subject to deteriorating conditions such as lack of food and potable water, and bathrooms that quit working:
Now, therefore, be it resolved that the members of the House of Representatives of the Ninety-fourth General Assembly, First Regular Session, the Senate concurring therein, hereby urge Congress to enact the "Airline Passenger Bill of Rights Act of 2007", House Bill No. 1303 and Senate Bill No. 678, or similar legislation, to protect airline customers; and
Be it further resolved that the Chief Clerk of the Missouri House of Representatives be instructed to prepare properly inscribed copies of this resolution for each member of the Missouri Congressional Delegation.
