AN ACT

To amend chapter 9, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to the designation of Buck O'Neil day in Missouri.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

            Section A. Chapter 9, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 9.162, to read as follows: 

            9.162. The governor shall issue annually a proclamation setting apart November thirteenth each year as "Buck O'Neil Day" and recommending to the people of the state that the day be appropriately observed with activities, events, and ceremonies in honor of John Jordan "Buck" O'Neil, a first baseman and manager of the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro American League, who became the first African-American coach in Major League Baseball.
