Rep. Delbert Scott, a Republican, represents St. Clair, Benton, Hickory and Pettis counties (District 119) in the Missouri House of Representatives.

Elected in a special election in 1985, Rep. Scott was elected to his ninth consecutive term in 2000. Rep. Scott was elected Minority Caucus Chairperson in 1994, a position he held until 1997. He was elected and served as Minority Floor Leader from 1997 through 2000.

Rep. Scott graduated from Mount Zion Bible School in 1967, and then attended Kansas City College Bible School in Overland Park, Kansas. He went on to graduate with a bachelor of science degree in education from Southwest Missouri State University. Rep. Scott taught music and history at the Mt. Zion school in Ava, Missouri. In addition to his legislative service, Rep. Scott currently runs a family owned hardware/home furnishings business in Lowry City, Missouri.

His business is a 33-year member of the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB). In 1988, Rep. Scott was a delegate for the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) to India. He has also been involved in numerous legislative conventions and study groups and is a member of the American Legislative Exchange Council and the National Conference of State Legislators (NCSL). He is also a member of the Missouri Invitational Celebrity Turkey Hunt organization in Warsaw, Mo.

Rep. Scott has been active in his community serving as president of the Lowry City Chamber of Commerce, secretary of the Lowry City Industrial Development Board and was elected to the Lowry City Board of Aldermen in 1984. He is a deacon at the Lowry City Church of God (Holiness); a member of the board of trustees of the Kansas City College and Bible School; served 15 years as Activities Director of the Harmony Hill Youth Camp near Fulton, Mo.; and has written and published teaching materials for the "Way, Truth and Life" Sunday School curriculum. Singing in organized groups since he was a teen, Rep. Scott is a member of the General Assembly Gospel singers. The group has performed patriotic and gospel music across the state, from small churches all the way to Chiefs, Royals and Cardinals stadiums, singing the national anthem. The Master's Four Quartet, in which he sang bass, recorded an album entitled "It's Time to Sing."

Rep. Scott is a three time recipient of the Missouri Farm Bureau Friend of Agriculture award and was honored with the Missouri Chamber of Commerce Spirit of Enterprise award; the Voice of Missouri award, from Associated Industries of Missouri (AIM); the Missouri Community College Association MCAA Distinguished Legislator award and has received Legislator of the Year awards from the Missouri Propane Gas Association and the Missouri Recreational Dealers Association.

Born September 9, 1949 in Clinton, Mo., he currently resides in Lowry City. He and his wife Donna, have three children Todd, Timothy and Tiffany.
