REP. VICKI WALKER

92nd General Assembly

 

Rep. Vicki Walker, a Democrat, represents part of Jackson County (District 50) in the Missouri House of Representatives.  She was elected to the House in November 2002.

 

Prior to assuming her legislative duties, Rep. Walker was a sign language interpreter in Texas and Kansas City.  She also was a writer, doing investigative and feature writing and worked for Braniff Airlines in reservations.

 

Named Outstanding English Major at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Rep. Walker is a member of the following organizations:  former board member, Greater Kansas City Women’s Political Caucus; co-founder, trainer and board member, Missouri Women’s Leadership Coalition; Kansas City 150 Committee; and the 3 Trails West Council.  She is also a former environmental management commissioner.

 

A 1969 graduate of Ruskin High School, Rep. Walker received an associate’s degree in interpreting for the deaf from Tarrant Community College in Ft. Worth, Texas, an associate’s degree in liberal arts from Longview Community College in Kansas City, and a bachelor of arts degree in English literature with an emphasis in journalism and creative writing from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

 

Born November 4, 1951 in Manhattan, Kan., Rep. Walker lives in Kansas City with her husband, Mike.  They have two children:  Jacob and Libby.
