REP. BARBARA FRASER

92nd General Assembly

Rep. Barbara Wall Fraser, a Democrat, represents part of St. Louis County (District 83) in the Missouri House of Representatives.

Before her election to the legislature, Rep. Fraser was a teacher for 22 years. She taught at Mary Institute and Country Day School (MICDS) for 15 years, and has worked for Francis Howell, Clayton and other school districts since beginning her career in 1969.

She was elected to the University City School Board in 1983, where she served four terms, with one term as president.  She has also served as a subdivision trustee.

Rep. Fraser is currently a member of the advisory board for the University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Social Work. She serves as board member to Thomas Jefferson School, Independence Center, and the Missouri Arts Cultural Trust board. Rep. Fraser is also a voter registrar for the League of Women Voters, and a member of Citizen's for Missouri's Children, the Women's Political Caucus, Junior League of Saint Louis, Clayton Rotary Club and Phi Delta Kappa. She attends St. Michael-St. George Episcopal Church.

In 1995 Rep. Fraser received the Outstanding Service Award presented by the Missouri School Board Association. She was also honored with the 1995 University City Pace Setter Award and the MICDS Teacher Appreciation Award, spring 1994. In 1999, Rep. Fraser was awarded the Outstanding Freshman Legislator in Education award.

A graduate of N. B. Broughton High School in Raleigh, Rep. Fraser attended Meredith College where she received a bachelor of arts degree in history.  She has also pursued graduate studies for a master of arts degree at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and a master of liberal arts at Washington University.

Born June 17 in Raleigh, N.C., Rep. Fraser currently resides in University City. She has two children, Jessica and Madeline.
