REP. KATHLYN FARES
92nd General
Assembly
Rep. Kathlyn Fares (District 91), a Republican in the
Missouri House of Representatives, represents part of St. Louis County, which
includes Glendale, Oakland, Shrewsbury and most of Webster Groves.
Elected to the House in 2000,
Rep. Fares also works in the family business, Fares Interior Furnishings, which
specializes in upholstery and antique restoration. She had previously worked in various other business settings
throughout the St. Louis area. Rep.
Fares was a secondary school teacher from 1964-1978 in both the Riverview
Gardens and Webster Groves school districts.
Rep. Fares has been
appointed to the Missouri Commission on the Future of Higher Education and is
chair of the St. Louis Regional Legislative Caucus.
Rep. Fares is a member of
the Webster Groves-Shrewsbury Chamber of Commerce, the Webster Groves Lions
Club and has served on the Webster Groves High School Community Advisory
Committee. She is Boy Scouts of America
and Exploring leader trained and a former advisor. As an active member of the
Evangelical United Church of Christ, she has served on the council and other
committees. Rep. Fares is a 2002/2003 participant in Focus Leadership St.
Louis.
She was honored by the
Missouri Community College Association as a 2002 Distinguished Legislator. As Jefferson Township Republican
Committeewoman since 1994, she was honored as the 1999 Republican Woman of
Tribute by the MoFRW/Jefferson Township Republican Women’s Club. Rep. Fares is also an active member of The
Republican Circle.
A graduate of Carrollton
High School, Rep. Fares attended Central Methodist College and received a
bachelor of science in education from Central Missouri State University in
1964.
Born September 7, 1942 in Kansas City, Rep. Fares
lives in Webster Groves with her husband, Lee. They have two grown children:
Scott Fares and Heather Fares Kloeckener, and three grandsons.
