Rep.
Jim Avery, a Republican, represents part of St. Louis County, which includes
the City of Crestwood, Sunset Hills, Fenton and Grantwood Village (District 95)
in the Missouri House of Representatives.
He was elected to his first term in November 2002.
In
addition to his legislative accomplishments, Rep. Avery is self-employed. He served in the United States Marine Corp
from 1991 to 1993, serving in “Operation Restore Hope,” Somalia, and is currently an officer candidate in the
Missouri National Guard.
Rep.
Avery was named Volunteer of the Year in 2000 by the Bayless School District
and was Student Government Member of the Year in 1997 at the University of
Missouri-St. Louis. He is also a member
of the Gravois Republican Club, the Tesson Ferry Republican Club and the St.
Louis County Young Republicans.
A
1989 graduate of Bayless High School, Rep. Avery attended the University of
Missouri-St. Louis.
