92nd General Assembly
Rep.
Walt Bivins, a Republican, represents part of St. Louis County (District 97) in
the Missouri House of Representatives.
Rep.
Bivins worked 32 years for Dow Chemical Company in Louisiana, Arkansas and
Missouri. He retired from the Pevely,
Mo. operation as manager of engineering and quality in 1993. In addition to his normal duties, he
represented Dow in the area of education liaison and Missouri government
affairs. In retirement he worked with
Dow as a government affairs consultant.
Rep.
Bivins served two terms on the board of education in the Mehlville School
District. Elected in 1997, he has
served as both board president and secretary and has achieved the Missouri
School Board Association’s Master Board Member Certification. An active member of Concord Trinity United
Methodist Church, Rep. Bivins served as chairperson of the administrative
board, lay leader and lay delegate to the annual conference and as chairperson
of the church worship committee.
As
a military dependent, Rep. Bivins was educated in schools in Texas, Louisiana,
Arkansas, Alabama, Kansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Florida and Japan. He received an associate degree from Hinds
Community College in Miss., and a bachelor of science degree from Louisiana
State University.
Born
September 26, 1939, in Jackson, Miss., Rep. Bivins resides in South St. Louis
County with his wife, Ginger. They have
three grown children and ten grandchildren.
