REP. BOB MAY

92nd General Assembly

 

Rep. Bob May, a Republican, represents part of Phelps County (District 149) in the Missouri House of Representatives.

 

Elected to the House in 2000, Rep. May is a retired forester.  He spent 28 years in the U.S. Forest Service in Minnesota, Indiana and Missouri working as a district ranger and forest staff officer.  Rep. May also served in the U.S. Navy from 1953-1957 as an electricians mate 1st class petty officer.

 

An elder in the Presbyterian (USA) Church, Rep. May is a member or past member of the following organizations: Optimist International and past president of the Rolla Optimist Club; past president, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of South Central Missouri; Rolla Community C-2000 Substance Abuse Prevention Team; founding member, Phelps County Community Partnership; Compassionate Friends International; past chair, United Ministries in Higher Education-University of Missouri-Rolla; Rolla Public Schools Partnership in Education committee; volunteer mentor, Rolla Public Schools; former volunteer coach, little league baseball, basketball and soccer; workplace readiness instructor, Private Industry Council; trainer, Student Conflict Resolution; trainer, Teen and Adult Baseline Substance Abuse Prevention; and he is a substitute teacher in the Rolla Public Schools.

 

Rep. May has been honored as the Area Volunteer Honoree by the Meramec Regional Planning Commission and was named Man of the Year by Rolla Area Good Life Magazine and K-Day Radio.

 

A 1952 graduate of Champaign High School in Champaign, Ill., Rep. May received his bachelor of science degree in forestry from the University of Illinois in 1962.

 

Born January 18, 1935, in Mansfield, Ill., Rep May lives in Rolla with his wife, Carlene.  They have three children: Mike, Tim and Pat (deceased), and four grandchildren: Erin, Jackson, Patrick and Chrissy.
